Novena Prayers
Day 1:
Dear St Dominic Savio, you grew under the supervision and care of St. John Bosco.
Witnessing the zeal of your mentor you shared his desire to bring the Lord a great many souls.
Despite your frail and weak constitution you devoutly waited for Holy Mass kneeling outside your church until the doors opened despite rain or snow.
I pray with the words that you used:
O Mary, I give you my heart.
Grant me to be always yours.
Jesus and Mary, be ever my friends, and, for love of you, grant me to die a thousand deaths rather than to have the misfortune of committing a single mortal sin. Amen.
Jesus always spoke of his love for children and we know that your requests will be well received.
We humbly ask that you bring our petitions before the Lord (mention your intentions here)
St Dominic Savio, pray for us.
O Saint Dominic Savio, a model of purity, piety, penance and apostolic zeal for youth; grant that, through your intercession, we may service God in our ordinary duties with fervent devotion, and attain the grace of holy joy on earth, that we may one day love God forever in Heaven. Amen.

What Is St Dominic Savio Known For?
Dominic Savio was born April 2nd, 1842 in Riva, Italy to a poor but devout family.
Dominic went to Mass often and knelt before the church no matter the weather or conditions, praying.
He became an altar boy and received a dispensation to receive Holy Eucharist at age 7, quite unusual at the time.
Dominic said the day of his First Communion was the happiest one of his life. That day he wrote down these resolutions:
I will go to Confession often, and as frequently to Holy Communion as my confessor allows. I wish to sanctify the Sundays and festivals in a special manner. My friends shall be Jesus and Mary. Death rather than sin.
Dominic’s teacher introduced him to Father (now Saint) John Bosco, and Don Bosco challenged Dominic to study an apologetics booklet and give him a report on it.
Dominic did so, and with a speed and accuracy that amazed Don Bosco.
Don Bosco helped Dominic enter seminary studies at the Oratory, where Dominic excelled, taking on penances willingly, even at the expense of his health.
Don Bosco directed him to focus on his studies and not on severe penances, which Dominic followed.
Nonetheless, Dominic became sick sometime later, an illness which everyone except for him thought he would recover from.
Dominic died March 9th, 1857, at age 14.
Don Bosco wrote a biography of Dominic Savio, which was read all throughout Italy. Pope Pius X agreed to start the cause for his canonization.
He was declared venerable in 1933 by Pope Pius XI, beatified in 1950, then canonized in 1954 by Pope Pius XII.
Saint Dominic is the patron saint of choirboys, the falsely accused, and juvenile delinquents.
His feast day is May 6th, moved from the original date in March near his birthday, but the novena can be prayed either time.

St. Maria Goretti is the patron saint of chastity, rape victims, girls, youth, teenage girls, poverty, purity and forgiveness. Starts: June 28th Feast day: July 6th St. Maria Goretti Novena Introduction Maria Goretti was born on October 16, 1890 in Italy. By the time Maria was five, her family had become so poor that they were forced to give up their farm, move, and work for other farmers, where they lived in a house that they shared with another family (the Serenellis). On July 5, 1902, eleven-year-old Maria was sitting on the outside steps of her home, while a young man named Alessandro was close by. Knowing she would be alone, he returned to the house and threatened her with a knife if she did not do what he said; he was intending to rape her. She would not submit, however, protesting that what he wanted to do was a mortal sin and warning him that he would go to Hell. She fought desperately, and he stabbed her numerous times. The following day, Maria forgave Alessandr...

FACEBOOK Starts: January 15th Feastday: January 24th St. Francis de Sales Introduction Born to a rich French family near Geneva, Switzerland in 1567, Francis was devout from an early age and blessed with deep intellect. His father desired that he study law and enter the political world, but Francis believed God was calling him to the priesthood. He did study law, but meanwhile he grew in mental prayer and also learned theology. At 26, after contention with his father, he was ordained a priest. Recall that this time period was in the first 75 years of the Protestant schisms from the Reformation. The Protestant Calvinists had a stronghold in Geneva, so Francis began a mission to lead them back to the Catholic Church. For several years, he met total failure: no one gave him the time of day, let aloned listened to him to convert back to Cath...
